The Wolves forward was arrested after an incident in Edinburgh city centre on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault that happened in Edinburgh city centre around 2pm on Wednesday June 19.

"A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in relation to the incident."

Griffiths is due to return to npower League One side Wolves having spent most of the past two seasons on loan at Hibernian, where he scored 28 goals last season.

He was recently named PFA Scotland young player of the year and Scottish Football Writers' Association player of the year.
