Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward, Georg Margreitter, Jamie O'Hara, Kevin Doyle and Tongo Doumbia were omitted from the side for Saturday's season-opening 0-0 draw with Preston.

Next up for Wolves is a trip to Morecambe in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night but Jackett will not back down after making a stand over the players, who have been linked with moves away from the club.

"I will do what's best for the squad but those guys are not in my plans. There are other players in the squad who will get the opportunities," he told Sky Sports News.

"We want to build up a winning streak and for the side to settle down into a rhythm is very important."

Jackett insisted he had not received any offers for his transfer-listed players and denied Kevin Doyle's time at Molineux was up, despite Celtic having seen a bid in the region of £750,000 turned down for the Republic of Ireland striker.

"At present, everything is very quiet," added Jackett.

"Kev had a groin injury which kept him out of our Scottish tour, then he had a throat infection.

"But he is fit now, back into full training and looking fine but lacking in match practice.

"He is not a player we have closed the door on though, and if we need an experienced striker at any time, he is there."

Jackett is focused on securing promotion back to the Championship at the first attempt and admitted he is not too concerned about a run in the Capital One Cup.

"The league is our priority this season and the (cup) competition is slightly irrelevant because of our position," he admitted.

know it's only one game, and Arsenal have got an amazing midfield as is; but seriously, is Arsene Wenger the only person on Earth who doesn't want Cesc at their club?
