Sigurdarson, often utilised out wide, was deployed up front by head coach Kenny Jackett in Friday night's home clash against Crawley and duly headed the opener in Wanderers' 2-1 triumph.

Sigurdarson knows there is plenty of competition for places in attack with Kevin Doyle - who could still depart before the close of the transfer window - Leigh Griffiths and Jake Cassidy, but he is striving to establish himself at the forefront of Jackett's promotion plans.

"We have so many players who are doing so well, so it's really difficult for the manager to choose who's going to play," he told the club's official website.

"I hope I'll get to start more games, but every player is hoping for that.

"I spoke to the manager last week, and he said he knows I can play wide and as a centre forward, and we're going to find the best place for you.

"On Friday I got to start as centre forward, which is my favourite position, and I scored a goal so I enjoyed it. I would prefer to play there, to be honest.

"We have great strikers though, so it's going to be tough to get that spot in the team.

"Griffiths and Kevin Doyle are both fantastic players and I would like to get the chance to play with both of them - it would be ideal if we could play three up front."
