Wolves are understood to want at least £4million for the French winger, who Forest this week renewed their interest in signing having tried to get him during the summer transfer window.

The Reds had a handful of bids rejected during the close season culminating in an offer of around £3.5million on transfer deadline day on September 2.

Forest have proposed a loan deal until January, when Sako's switch to the City Ground would then become a permanent move.

Jackett said on Thursday: "There has been renewed interest from Forest but I can only re-iterate that nothing will happen unless it is exactly right for us.

"At present there is no news because the clubs haven't agreed a deal.

"It is not something we are pushing but if there is a deal that is good for us, and any player wanting to go, we would have to pursue it."

Sako missed training on Thursday through illness, fuelling speculation that the 25-year-old might be trying to engineer a move away from Molineux.

Jackett insists that is not the case and, contrary to reports earlier in the day, he did actually report in at Wolves' training ground.

Asked about Sako's absence, Jackett added: "He was here, but he didn't train - he was sick. He has done some sessions, but he was sick.

"That (he is trying to force a move) is not the case at all. He has been genuinely sick.

"We have got an extensive medical team and he has been in close contact with our doctor about many issues, one being his illness."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
