The 20-year-old arrives at the Greenhous Meadow hot on the heels of Cristian Lopez, who signed from Huddersfield on a month-long agreement on Thursday morning.

McAlinden made his first-team debut for Wanderers at the end of last season and has enjoyed another three appearances this term, most recently as a second-half substitute in Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat to Notts County.

Shrews boss Graham Turner told the club's official website: "Liam is a player I've watched over the last 18 months and he has really developed over that time.

"We've been asking about him since the start of the season and it's good to finally have him on board."
