McAlinden joined the Shrews from Wolves on a three-month deal in October and scored three times in nine appearances, including a goal on his debut against Gillingham.

The 20-year-old was recalled by his parent club on Friday as the League One promotion chasers prepare for the busy festive period.

"He's a good player. He obviously got his three goals and stuck them in extremely well. He's still learning the game, still growing physically," Turner told Shrewsbury's official website.

"I think he started four or five consecutive matches, quite a substantial block of games for his first taste of league action and I thought he did well for us. I would welcome him back."

Turner added Wolves were pleased with how the loan worked out and hinted they would be happy to allow McAlinden to return to Shrewsbury in the new year.

"Liam's gone back and been quite complimentary about how he's been treated here so I don't think Wolves have any hesitation about letting him out or any of the other players come to us," Turner said.
