Rovers are searching for a replacement for Dean Saunders following the former Wales international's move to Wolves earlier this week.

There has been plenty of interest in the job, with chairman John Ryan sifting through the applications to begin interviews next Wednesday.

"We will have a drawn up a shortlist by next week and start interviews by Wednesday and then you never know what can happen after that," Ryan said.

"Dean was a top calibre manager and if we can get anyone as good as him then I will be very happy.

"I am looking for someone who is ambitious, can get us to the Championship and takes an interest in the youth policy."
