Just six points separate top-of-the-table Rovers and seventh-placed Yeovil going into this weekend's fixtures, and all seven clubs will feel they have a chance of being crowned champions at the end of next month.

They have all also unexpectedly dropped points in recent weeks.

Brentford lost back-to-back games at Stevenage and Carlisle. Swindon have played Hartlepool, Preston, Bury and Walsall in their last four home matches but have won none of them and lost to the Shakers.

Sheffield United were uncharacteristically thrashed 4-0 by struggling Stevenage last weekend. Bournemouth recently lost five games on the spin. Tranmere have lost three of their last four matches and Yeovil are without a win in three outings, despite leading 2-0 at home against Crawley nine days ago.

Doncaster themselves were unusually below-par in losing 3-0 at MK Dons at the start of the month and were held to a draw by bottom club Portsmouth at the Keepmoat Stadium last Saturday.

Flynn expects more twists and turns in the remaining month of the season.

He told reporters: "I said to the players at the end of the game on Saturday that the unpredictable will happen. We've drawn at home to a team who are struggling in the league this season - that was unexpected.

"We might have a couple of things in the next eight games that we are not expecting too, as will everyone else. We've got to make sure we're better prepared for them."
