Whittingham: Remains upbeat

Whittingham: Remains upbeat

This, despite the spectre of a 10-point penalty hanging over the club.

The Football League this week confirmed Pompey will be deducted 10 points if and when they come out of administration.

The penalty will plunge Pompey deeper into the relegation mire in npower League One, but Whittingham has no intention of throwing in the towel.

"It is going to be hard to stay up - it does not take a genius to work that out - but you never say never," he told The News.

"There are more than 25 games to go and you find there might be one or two other clubs in financial trouble.

"Whispers are going about so there may be other clubs who have 10 points taken off. There is still every chance we can stay up."
