Guy Whittingham: Hoping the Pompey takeover is soon completed

Pompey, unbeaten in their last five matches, head to the High Court on April 10-11 to resolve a dispute over the valuation of their Fratton Park ground.

The Pompey Supporters' Trust are attempting to rescue the stricken club, which has been in administration for more than a year.

But their takeover bid hinges on being able to buy Fratton Park, which is controlled by former club owner Balram Chainrai.

The future of Pompey is therefore in the balance but Whittingham, a Fratton Park legend as a player, admits it is out of his hands.

"We can't affect that," he said. "We can only affect what happens on the pitch and hopefully things off it will work out for us."
