The 2008 winners were beaten 2-1 thanks to two goals from Francois Zoko and even though David Connolly pulled a goal back they failed to force a replay.
"We're out and that's very disappointing having been far the better side," he said. We suffered a couple of clinical finishes but that's what happens when you're opposition are a league up.
"I'm extremely proud of the second-half, our energy levels were fantastic. It had to be a gung-ho performance. Exeter did it to us last week and we learned from that. You have to be careful not to be too wide open but I think we did well.
"Gavin was having a steady game and got himself sent off, that was disappointing. When you lead in with your arm that's what happens - although David Connolly has got a big fat lip at the moment from an elbow and I think the officials missed something there.
"I was disappointed with the way we conceded, but not the way we played. They were breaking away quickly and they had two great finishes. When you play a level up strikers take their chances and we didn't. We had numerous opportunities to score, and we didn't in the first-half.
"Against teams in higher leagues you have to step up and defend a lot better, and for the rest of the game we did. I don't think any neutrals here would pick Stevenage out as coming from the league above."
