The 27-year-old midfielder equalised for the Dons 13 minutes from time to deny the visitors the opportunity to move out of the League Two drop zone and claim a first league win in four attempts.

And Ardley, who took over from Terry Brown at Kingsmeadow last month, admitted he had to be content with the result and insisted his side have improved during his short reign as manager so far.

"I said before I got this job that it is all about results and you have got to accept bad performances. I'm finding that quite difficult," Ardley said. "But we haven't played well and yet we haven't been beaten. I think six weeks ago, when I first arrived, we would have probably fell to pieces and lost so I can take some positives from it.

"We struggled with the type of game it was, there wasn't a lot of passing in midfield and they did better than we did. It is probably something they have been working on more than us but we hung on in there and didn't fold and managed to come away with a point.

"Do I want better performances? Yes, and we are going to raise our standards in all areas, but for the time being, and while we are where we are, we will take it."
