Chainrai: Pushing for Pompey

Chainrai: Pushing for Pompey

McInnes, 61, is one of six major backers of the PST bid which hopes to take charge of Pompey and lead them out of administration.

He said: "After months of planning and thousands of man hours we have delivered one credible solution. We neither desired nor expected to be bidding against a body of people responsible for creating a position that threatens the very existence of our club, but that is what we have been faced with and responded to.

"Never has it been my privilege to work alongside such a committed and loyal group. A number have suffered both personal and health issues attributable to their involvement. We may have different ideas like any passionate group of football fans, but we have common hopes and values.

"Our bid has been analysed, accepted and may well be adopted by PKF, The Football League, PFA and the PCC. Any comment to the contrary is simply a lie. All the major investor funds, together with the initial pledge money, have been in a dedicated escrow account for some weeks now.

"It's the decision of The Football League and the application of rules they laid down. All I can tell you is the day the PST bid team met at The Football League HQ, we were the only bid in town. I think the other was withdrawn. Although courteous and I think relieved they had a bid to survey, all the same they were probing, considered, challenging and discerning. If these criteria are maintained, there is likely to be only one outcome."

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
