Olivier Giroud: Has been among the goals over recent weeks

The Frenchman was among those drafted into the Emirates over the summer, with Arsene Wenger aware that attacking reinforcements were required as Robin van Persie edged towards the exits.

Giroud has taken time to settle in England, but has been a regular on the scoresheet over recent weeks - including a double in a 3-3 draw with Fulham on Saturday.

He claims he did not allow his head to drop during a testing time and is confident that the Gunners, like him, will come good once full confidence has been restored.

Giroud said: "When I didn't score at the beginning of the season, I stayed confident.

"I always work on my mind and my game. Individual mistakes are hurting us and that's why we have to show solidarity. It's a bad run but there is a lot of quality in this team. We will have better days ahead."

Giroud could have celebrated his first hat-trick in Arsenal colours over the weekend, but he allowed Mikel Arteta to step up and take a late penalty against Fulham - an effort he saw saved by Mark Schwarzer.

"Some guys have asked me why I didn't take the ball but it's like that before the game, the boss has a list of penalty takers," Giroud said.

"It's very difficult because Mikel was under pressure. In the last minute, it's not very easy to shoot a penalty. We need to concede fewer goals because it's too difficult to win if we concede a lot of goals."
