Lionel Messi: Intends to spend his entire career at Camp Nou

The mercurial Argentine playmaker has already etched his name into Camp Nou folklore, and appears destined to go on breaking records for many years to come.

As a graduate of the famed Barcelona academy system, Messi has strong ties to the club that helped to mould him into the player he is today.

He has always maintained that he wants to spend his entire career in Catalunya, and there is little to suggest that he will be altering that stance any time soon.

Messi's father believes the reigning World Player of the Year will stay put, with talks regarding an extension to a contract which is already due to run until 2016 believed to be underway.

Jorge Messi appreciates that anything can happen in football and that it would be foolish to try and predict the future, but he sees no reason why Barcelona would need to sever ties with a man who is the club's all-time leading goalscorer at the age of 25.

He told Cadena Cope: "Only a catastrophe would see him leave Barcelona. It's impossible to think Leo can go and play in another team.

"He has always said he intends to end his career with this shirt."
