Doncaster missed the chance to go top of the npower League One table as they suffered a 4-1 home thumping by fast-improving Coventry.

David McGoldrick (26 and 58) struck twice in between goals from Franck Moussa (three) and Adam Barton (89) to continue the Sky Blues' recent scoring blitz.

Mark Robins' side have now scored 18 goals in their past five league games, four of which they have won, although they remain just inside the bottom half.

Substitute Chris Brown scored Doncaster's only goal on 76 minutes as they failed to cash in on the top-of-the-table clash between Sheffield United and Tranmere finishing goalless.

In-form Brentford jumped up to second place, level on points with leaders Tranmere, with a fourth consecutive league win 2-1 at Notts County.

Clayton Donaldson scored an 88th-minute winner after Adam Forshaw (36) had cancelled out Tony Craig's 20th-minute own goal.

Ryan Lowe (16) scored the only goal as MK Dons moved up to fifth with a 1-0 win over bottom side Hartlepool, while Stevenage stayed inside the play-off places despite losing 2-1 at home to Crawley Town.

Robin Shroot (55) put Stevenage in front but they were left empty handed as Hope Akpan (65) and Dannie Bulman (69) hit back.

Swindon are a point outside the top six after beating Oldham 2-0 with Raffael De Vita's quickfire first-half double enough for the points.

At the other end of the table, Scunthorpe halted Leyton Orient's five-game winning run in the league, winning 3-1 to move them two points from safety.

Christian Ribeiro (61), Karl Hawley (69) and Damien Mozika (80) grabbed Scunthorpe's goals, with Orient replying through a 79th-minute Kevin Lisbie penalty.

Bury slipped to second bottom with a 1-0 loss at Crewe. On-loan Australia-born midfielder Bradden Inman scored the winner two minutes from the end.

Portsmouth's recent woes got worse as a goalless draw at home to Preston dropped them into the bottom four. Izale McLeod missed a 14th-minute penalty for Pompey.

Shrewsbury beat Carlisle 2-1 with Paul Parry netting a 64th-minute winner. Jon Taylor's 22nd-minute opener had been cancelled out by Liam Noble 11 minutes later.

Yeovil scored twice in the final 12 minutes to draw 2-2 at Walsall. Reuben Reid (78) and Sam Foley (90) stole a point after Jamie Paterson (13) and Will Grigg (72) had given the Saddlers control.

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.
