Glenn Murray: Bagged a brace for Palace at Forest

Billy Sharp's injury-time strike ensured Alex McLeish's first game in charge of Forest did not end in defeat as they salvaged a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace at the City Ground.

McLeish, installed as Sean O'Driscoll's successor on Thursday, saw his side go behind twice to strikes from Glenn Murray, but goals from Andy Reid and Sharp earned them a point.

Managerless Blackburn picked up a morale-boosting success as they won 3-1 at Barnsley.

Rovers parted company with Henning Berg in midweek but goals from Joshua King and Ruben Rochina put them in control at Oakwell.

Stephen Dawson pulled a goal back for the hosts but Jordan Rhodes' 13th goal of the season sealed victory.

There were no goals in the Yorkshire derby between Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday but there was plenty of controversy after referee Mick Russell failed to send off Jeremy Helan after booking the winger twice.

Russell did not realise he had already booked the on-loan Manchester City midfielder and amid furious protestations from Huddersfield players and management, the Herefordshire official allowed Helan to play on.

Cardiff remain five points clear at the top of the table as they beat Millwall 1-0 thanks to Rudy Gestede's early goal.

Hull kept the pressure on the Bluebirds as they beat Leeds 2-0 with second-half goals from Corry Evans and David Meyler.

Bristol City claimed a crucial win at the bottom of the table as they saw off fellow strugglers Peterborough 4-2 at Ashton Gate.

Paul Anderson put the home side ahead before Grant McCann levelled from the penalty spot for Posh.

But a Sam Baldock double and Stephen McManus sealed the win, with Dwight Gayle's late penalty a mere consolation for the visitors.

Middlesbrough remain third after a 4-2 win over Blackpool. Ishmael Miller, Richard Smallwood, Scott McDonald and Adam Reach found the net for Tony Mowbray's side, with Wes Thomas and Chris Basham getting on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Bolton came from behind to beat Birmingham 3-1 at Reebok Stadium.

Nikola Zigic put Blues ahead but Marcos Alonso, Chung Yong-lee and Keith Andrews hit back for the Trotters, before Zigic was sent off late on.

Charlton and Derby played out a 1-1 draw at The Valley. Danny Haynes put the Addicks ahead but Jamie Ward levelled from the penalty spot after Michael Morrison was sent off after picking up a second booking for his foul on Richard Keogh in the box.

David Nugent got the only goal as Leicester won 1-0 at Burnley, while Richard Cresswell and DJ Campbell found the net in Ipswich's 2-0 win at Wolves.

In the late game Matej Vydra scored twice as Watford cemented their place in the play-off places with an impressive 3-1 win at Brighton.

The Czech striker took his tally for the season to 12 goals with two in the space of two second-half minutes to shoot down the Seagulls.

The game came to life after the break when Troy Deeney grabbed his 50th career goal and David Lopez equalised for Brighton with a penalty before Vydra had the final word.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
