Loic Remy: Marseille striker rejected chance to talk to QPR

Remy has been linked with a string of clubs so far in the January transfer window and QPR boss Redknapp was keen to win the chase for the forward.

Redknapp travelled to France in the hope of discussing a deal, but revealed the 26-year-old did not want to even talk about a move to Loftus Road.

"I went over last week to watch him, not that I needed to, as I watched him seven times when I was at Spurs. I couldn't even get a meeting with him," Redknapp said.

"I was hoping for a meeting with him to encourage him to come and he wasn't being disrespectful.

"People say he was being disrespectful not talking to us but he was in a position where last year at Spurs he was interested and I got on well with him, and I think he felt embarrassed coming to see me to say he wasn't interested in coming to QPR.

"He just felt he was in a position he found difficult to handle."

QPR's Premier League rivals Newcastle United have been strongly tipped to launch a bid for Remy as Alan Pardew searches for a replacement for Demba Ba.

Arsenal and West Ham United have also been mooted as admirers of Remy, while Serie A side Napoli are understood to hold an interest.

m absolutely disgusted that I've been misquoted in saying that if a chance came up to join Arsenal I would be interested. What I meant to say is if Man United or Chelsea were interested......
