Loic Remy: Said to be favouring a move to London

The highly-rated striker was expected to travel to Newcastle for talks after they agreed a fee in the region of £8.3m with Marseille at the weekend.

But it has now emerged that Remy, 26, is instead negotiating with QPR and he is expected to undergo a medical at the west-London club on Tuesday, according to Sky Sports.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp appeared resigned to missing out on the player after revealing at the weekend that he had failed to secure a meeting with Remy while in France.

"I was hoping for a meeting with him to encourage him to come," said Redknapp. "I think he felt embarrassed coming to see me to say he wasn't interested in coming to QPR."

But it now appears that Redknapp's advances have been successful in attracting Remy, who was Alan Pardew's top target to replace Demba Ba.

OM's sporting director Jose Anigo insisted Remy has still not decided whether to join Newcastle or QPR.

He told RTL television: "We at OM reached an agreement with Newcastle, but we also talked with other English clubs.

"We gave them a working basis and it remains up to Loic to choose the club he prefers in terms of their structure or sporting plans.

"He is currently in England and is speaking with some clubs.

"Everyone talks about Newcastle, but it is not just Newcastle because he is talking with other clubs.

"We have to remain cautious. We have done our job and players and agents must do theirs. Nothing is done."

Anigo claimed the player had not ruled out moving to the Premier League's bottom club. He added: "QPR have deep pockets and a manager (Harry Redknapp) known in England to have a good reputation, so I do not think Loic has closed the door on QPR."

Redknapp is also believed to have approached West Bromwich Albion with offers for striker Peter Odemwingie and defender Jonas Olsson as he looks to strengthen his squad for a relegation dogfight.

The QPR boss was in Rennes on Saturday ahead of a possible bid for Yann M'Vila, but Djibril Cisse is expected to be told he can leave Loftus Road before the month is out.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
