Sammy Ameobi: Loan move to Boro

The 20-year-old is likely to be included in the squad for the clash with Championship leaders Cardiff on Saturday.

Ameobi is cup tied and will not be available for the visit of Chelsea for the FA Cup tie on Wednesday.

Boro have reached an agreement with Newcastle that will allow Ameobi's loan deal to be extended should the team reach the play-offs this season.

"He gives us a different option and more options in a similar way to Muzzy Carayol," said manager Tony Mowbray.

"He's an out and out attacking wide player, who can operate on either side and will be ideal when we want to play with two wingers.

"In my mind Carayol is the only what I would class out and out winger we have at the club. He will hopefully give some players a lift and create some competition."

Excellent. He's a promising talent but desperately needs game time.
