m curious as to what image Real Madrid are trying to re-establish as I always thought their pre-Jose image was one of a bunch of a classless bullies tapping up whoever they wanted while living it large on borrowed money they're never going to pay back.
t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.
aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.

You are talking about economics and organisation. But on the pitch I disagree a 10th team on the Premier would be superior to the 10th on LaLiga. I take it down to football style. Spanish football is slightly more organised than british football. It lacks its physical approach but almost every team knows how to keep possession and how to arrange itself around the ball while british football is mostly about random combinations within an overall crazy (and otherwise funnier) anarchy. This crystallise on the national teams and it explains why every little skilful spaniard signed by Premier league teams in latest years is relevant and able to success within the game in the islands (Michu, Mata, Silva, Cazorla, Arteta). Does it make sense?

manitu69, The EPL has 3 winners from three different teams. La Liga has 5 winners from two. What's more, Spain have only ever had two winners of the CL (Barca and Madrid) whereas England have had 5 different teams win Europes top dog.

@manitu You dismiss 90% of the points made here as BS by quoting a series of statistics which tell us nothing about the quality of the entertainment for which football fans pay. In pure footballing terms the numbers of winners matter but most people want a football match to be competitive, fast moving with goals and a real possibility of an upset. That is what sells the EPL to TV companies who are managed by hard-headed business people not sugar daddies. Technically good football can be really dull as Barcelona have too often proved and that's why the EPL wins the battle of the ratings. Overall it's just much better to watch.

First of all I'd like to say that I enjoy watching the EPL more than watching La Liga and that a few points in the article are agreeable 90% of it is just BS. Football like everything else in this greedy world is all about results and even thou the EPL is fairer than La Liga, since the year 2000, the EPL had 3 CL winners Vs. 5 CL winner from La Liga. In the Europa League the situation is even worst, 1 winner from EPL vs. 5 winners from La Liga. The only one area the EPL wins over La Liga is in runners up in the CL (6 vs. 1) but to be honest, who cares about losers. Another aspect interesting is Golden Ball winners since 2000: La Liga had 8 winners vs. EPL only 2 (same as Italy). Let¿s be honest, EPL has more money coming from Asia and sugar daddies in oil land but the clubs are just wasting all that money in over rated salaries and transfers that do not increase the quality level of the competition.

@stijn The Brits themselves plus an audience of millions who pay hugely greater sums to watch the English Premier League on TV rather than La Liga, Serie A or the much (over) praised Bundesliga. Perhaps the overall technical competence isn't as good but excitement is what people want and that's what they get more often with English football. La Liga = excellent cure for insomnia.

''Why The English Game Still Reigns Over Spain'' Uhm, nope, it does not. England last won a trophy in 1966. Spain has won the last three in which it competed. Also, Spain has three teams in the CL quarter finals, whereas England has none. The league / finance / quality argument is won by the Germans. Low ticket prices, full stadiums, all on line for FFP. The only people who seem to think the EPL is the best league are the Brits themselves.

sat62, no one is talking about the quality f players. They're talking aboutt he stability and competitiveness of the league. In Spain you have two clubs that make 150 euros a season from TV rights. The remaining 18 clubs share about 200 million between them. The difference in available resources between the top two and the rest is insurmountable. At least the EPL's shared TV rights agreement gives every side a decent chance. So rather than swinging your Spanish knowledge around like two brass testicles, try understanding the context to which the article is referring. Spains league is no longer a league. It's a procession. A carnival for two teams and the rest literally make the numbers up.

@v. profane> Yeah I did chuckle when I read that statement. A Madrid and Valencia are in massive debt where the interest on those debt is a lot higher than their earning potential. They basically survive because Spain has very lax laws on how a club can be run and administration is not considered the disaster it is in England, which is why that rule is abused to the fullest with half the Spanish clubs are in administration.

why?becuase it is considered that the center of all footballing world lies in england: 1)how english is the epl?????????????? 2)the quality differance between english players compared to the rich foriegn players of each epl teams 3)how much has the epl contributed to the development of the national team in respect of international tournamentse.i euros/world 4)the english press meeds ro be more relistic than optimistic now please think of all these questions considering in laliga the differance is quite clear-spanishla liga is producing more qualilative players than epl they english game only reigns over spain- becuase some technicality in fifa rankings also ranks them as the forth best footballing nation in the world...i rest my case
