Newcastle United are reportedly considering legal action against Wigan Athletic and their midfielder Callum McManaman following his reckless tackle on Massimo Haidara.
m curious as to what image Real Madrid are trying to re-establish as I always thought their pre-Jose image was one of a bunch of a classless bullies tapping up whoever they wanted while living it large on borrowed money they're never going to pay back.
t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.
aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.

First of all, sounds like a sweet media beat up... Secondly, I don't think suing anyone would be a good idea. But the rule about retrospective bans should change. If the officials 'see' something, but make a bad call, and admit they make a bad call, then THEY should be censured as well as the player who committed the foul. As it stands, the only person who has lost out here is Haidara, which is pretty unfair. Definitely think suing people is unnecessary - just change the law to reflect the fact that officials - like players - can stuff up.

@Chelseablue - you are drawing some very odd comparisons. Yes there is a possibility that you could "walk down the street and get run over" but the risk of such an outcome is mitigated by such things as pavements, crossings, looking before you cross etc. If you elect to stroll down the middle of the carriageway, that risk increases significantly. Similarly, there is a risk I could get kicked in the knee at work today but that risk increases significantly if my chosen profession is a contact sport. I'm condoning nothing. It's a shocking tackle. My point is it's difficult to invoke the law when players are voluntarily and knowingly playing a contact sport, which by its very title, implies that there is a risk of contact.

Ludicrous decision. Why dont Hull City sue Newcastle for Danny Guthrie's assault on Craig Fagan in 2008? Football doesn't work that way. Sh*t happens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C_YyMKzTXU- To jog your memory a bit.

I can understand Martinez defending his player as most managers would so the same especially with a young player but really Whelan shouldn't be making any public comments on this let alone some of the rubbish he is talking. Most other chairmen in similar circumstances would talk privately to the opposing chairman to offer his clubs sympathy and enquire as to the health of the injured player. @v. profane makes an interesting point about Whelan and Ashley and if there is any truth in it then as much as McManaman should have got a straight red it would be disgusting if two much older and much richer men who really should know better are using this for cheap point scoring.

Have you been injured at work? Looking forward to next years Premier league sponsored by Rapid Solicitors. If Newcastle decide to sue Wigan they should be kicked out of association football for being completely mad! at what point does Ali sue Frasier or vice Versa for the 10 bells of s**t they kicked out of each other over the course of 5 years? It's football, it's a contact sport you get paid 10's if not 100's of thousand pounds a week to play in the PL there are risks this is one of them and also why you get paid so much money.

chelseablue_no1 - try watching the video rather than looking at pictures. Showing something at point of contact gives a rather different view to what actually happened. He tried to kick the ball, missed it, then unfortunately connected with the player. Reckless, yes, malicious, no. To say it was aimed directly at his knee is utter nonsense, and something that you can't possibly derive from a picture.

I notice this is a report of a Telegraph article that included no quotes, sources or proof of any other kind. I wonder if someone will sue the FA or referees association for failure to do their jobs, resulting in the loss of an business asset?

Anyone making comparisons between a professional contact sport and a regular working environment is clearly mental. They are so different to one another that it would be like comparing a submarine to a badger.
