The Bacon Gossip

Rafa to Rovers? File under 'out of the frying pan and into the s***'. Plus, Alexis Sanchez to Arsenal and more...

RAFA OF THE ROVERS?
'Venkys will bankroll a bid for a top boss to get them to the riches of the Premier League,' according to the Daily Mirror. And their top target is apparently Rafa Benitez. Hmmm. We suspect that Benitez may have slightly bigger fish to fry than Blackburn this summer even after mixed results at Chelsea.

Shebby Singh 'will sound out names such as long-term target Tim Sherwood at Tottenham, and former England bosses Steve McClaren and Sven Goran Eriksson', according to the report in the Daily Mirror. And then presumably end up at Alex McLeish.

ALEXIS TO ARSENAL?
'Arsenal are among clubs to have expressed interest in Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez,' claims the Daily Mail. The 24-year-old has started only 11 games in La Liga this season and looks likely to leave in the summer. There is some suggestion that Arsenal's style would suit Sanchez, with his former sporting director at Udinese Fabrizio Larini saying: "Sanchez needs to play the ball on the ground, just like Arsenal. That would be his ideal game."

Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus have all been previously linked with Sanchez, who snubbed offers from both Manchester clubs to join Barcelona from Udinese for £22m in 2011.

SINCLAIR IN, WEIMANN OUT
That's Scott Sinclair, who is apparently a summer target for Aston Villa - if they stay in the Premier League - after his move to Manchester City somehow failed to work out. Who would ever have predicted that he would fail to establish himself at the Premier League champions and would play only a handful of games. Everton are also interested in Sinclair.

Unfortunately leaving Villa may be Andreas Weimann, whose talks about a new deal with Aston Villa have stalled, according to the Daily Mail. Norwich are said to be interested, but we have to say that we think he could do better.

AND THE REST
Inter Milan are planning to bid £10million for Loic Remy if QPR go down...Arsene Wenger is primed for a major power struggle with Chelsea for West Brom wonder kid Isaiah Brown...Per Mertesacker has ruled out a summer move to Wolfsburg...Southampton are planning a summer shopping trip for Australian right-back Trent Sainsbury...Arsenal are the latest club to express an interest in Non-League sensation Daniel Carr...Celtic are poised to revive their interest in Wolves striker Kevin Doyle this summer.

Is this the Bacon Gossip because Alexis Sanchez likes a good bit of bacon? I bet it is. "Instead of chewing gum, chew bacon" as Dr Nick once said. Sanchez took this advice and now look at him.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
