Dyke will replace David Bernstein on July 13, who is leaving the post after two-and-a-half years.

He was a director of Manchester United in the late 1990s, and since 2006 he has been non-executive chairman of Brentford football club

Dyke, who will relinquish his role with the Bees at the end of the season, said: "I'm flattered that the FA council has unanimously supported my appointment as chairman of the FA and I am looking forward to taking up the role in July.

"I will be outlining my priorities for the future of the FA in due course."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.
