Januzaj nominated for young SPOTY

Adnan Januzaj has been nominated for the BBC's Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The Manchester United winger has started just four league games and played a total of 537 minutes of senior football.

There is of course much debate about which international team Januzaj will represent, with England apparently trying to lay a claim on him despite him not currently being eligible.

The 18-year-old is eligible to play for Albania, Serbia and Turkey, although it is thought his preferred nation is Kosovo, who are not currently affiliated to FIFA.

The BBC announced: 'Januzaj, 18, has broken into the Manchester United first team, scoring twice on his debut, and is regarded as one of the most promising talents in the game.'

Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott have both won the award in recent years.

The other nominees are athletes Dina Asher-Smith, Jessica Judd and Isaac Towers, swimmers James Guy and Amy Marren, shooter Amber Hill, golfer Charley Hull, weightlifter Rebekah Tiler and canoeist Kimberley Woods.

The winner will be announced on December 15. No footballers have been nominated for the full award.

However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
