@HarryBoulton. Six months is a long time. Look how far United have slipped in that time. Without wishing to sound arrogant, maybe United aren't perceived as direct competition now to Chelsea now, certainly not this season I don't think. If it was City coming calling and not United, I'm certain they would have been told bugger off.

@Grimupnorth, I was referring to their willingness to sell to a direct domestic rival. This type of transfer doesn't happen that often in this country. I'm still amazed that this is being seriously discussed. 6 months ago this rumour would have been absolutely laughed out.

It wouldn't surprise me if Mourinho is toying with everyone,he's a headf*ck! That is how stunned I am about this, and perhaps even in denial

@Gab1965 i can see that happening somehow that Rooney could be key to this deal.

@HarryBoulton. Because Chelsea have Hazard, Oscar and Willian, and having a 35m bag of cash sitting on the bench is stretching it a bit in the days of FFP...maybe..

Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague....the guy has said a lot of things that were far from the truth, I won't put a penny on his words....

My brother used to play Championship manager. If he didn't like a player, or an opposition player scored against him to knock him out of the cup or league, he'd buy him, then start fining him for no reason, then let him rot in the reserves, effectively ruining this virtual player's virtual career. A virtually cruel b***ard my brother was on that game. Basically Mourinho is like my brother playing Championship manager.

Chelsea ought to demand Rooney as part of the deal or no deal. They can sell him elsewhere and the idea of selling him to a team that does not want to sell anyone to them, for the sake of two league games, is laughable.

I am still at an absolute loss as to why Chelsea would even consider selling such a player, let alone to us. Remarkable.....

@peeyugo... Disagree, United are having a bad season but come on writing off all the players that have been challenging for all titles for that last 2-3 years is a bit short sighted, a few signings and a drastic change in performance and it back to the top with the bumbling Phil Jones and not good enough Evans who has been great that previous two seasons when played consistently. left back, center back (capt), creative midfielder and right winger and you have a great team again, sure then its another tackling midfielder and striker to be added but they ain't gonna buy 6 players in one Jan/Summer break, I don't like Moyes nor think he is good enough but that's the deal... in the words of Captain Jean Luc Picard "The line must be drawn here! This far, no farther!" (referring to slipping to 7th)
