Despite missing a first-half penalty through Jordi Gomez, Wigan looked on course to record a seventh successive Sky Bet Championship win and ninth in all competitions when Nick Powell put them ahead in the 56th minute.

However, Yeovil turned the match on its head when Ishmael Miller curled in two left-footed efforts in the 82nd and 85th minutes, taking his tally to four goals in four games and seemingly putting the Glovers within touching distance of a shock upset.

FA Cup semi-finalists Wigan battled back again though and, incredibly, it looked as though they would end up with the three points after all as a strike from James McArthur in the 86th minute was swiftly followed by an own goal from Yeovil defender Byron Webster, leaving them 3-2 up.

There was still another twist in the tale though and, with the match deep into stoppage time, Luke Ayling turned in a corner from virtually on the line to grab a valuable point for Yeovil.

Although they could not grab the victory, Wigan still managed to close the gap on fourth-placed QPR to four points after Harry Redknapp's men crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

QPR were looking to make it three wins in four games but were left with a mountain to climb after defender Richard Dunne was sent off in the 35th minute for bringing down Leon Best in the area, with Chris Maguire slotting home the resulting penalty.

Second-half goals from Best and Lewis Buxton then sealed the win for Wednesday.

Also on Tuesday, Charlton climbed out of the relegation zone after snatching a last-gasp winner against Bournemouth, Dorian Dervite netting the only goal of the game in stoppage time.
