Allardyce attended Wolfsburg's 4-1 win over Nurnberg, with Swiss striker Josip Drmic understood to the reason for his journey.

And the Hammers boss admits that Drmic barely got involved in the action because of Wolfsburg's dominance, meaning the scouting mission did not go according to plan.

"I was at Nuremberg versus Wolfsburg. The sausages were great!" joked the Hammers chief.

"They got beat quite comfortably so in terms of that particular player [Drmic], you wouldn't be able to judge him on that particular game because they got battered."

The 21-year-old Swiss striker is one of the top-scorers in the Bundesliga this season with 16 goals to his name.

Arsenal are understood to be keen and Drmic has admitted to having a liking for the Premier League, although reports that they had agreed terms were quickly denied by Nurnberg and the player himself.

Nurnberg have also admitted that they could be powerless to stop the player leaving this summer as he has a release clause, with German sources claiming it is for less than £5million.

ow is the time for Allardyce to finally get a chance at a big club please. He is likely to have a number of great offers for his services this summer, but who will he choose? Will it be Liverpool, Real Madrid, Dortmund or Man City?
