The 2013/14 campaign has been a breakthrough one for Kane at White Hart Lane, following a number of years spent cutting his senior teeth out on loan.

Stints at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City have offered him an insight into what is required to compete at the highest level, and he is now transferring those skills onto the Premier League stage.

The 20-year-old forward has been handed a starting berth by boss Tim Sherwood for Spurs' last two fixtures, and has responded to that show of faith with goals in successive outings.

Kane told the Evening Standard: "I feel I'm good enough to be here and good enough to play for Spurs in the Premier League.

"I hope I've shown that in the last two games and I'm looking forward to the next ones."

Kane is not the only youngster pushing for first-team recognition in north London, with Andros Townsend's efforts earning him England honours and Nabil Bentaleb rave reviews for his performances since stepping up under Sherwood.

The likes of Tom Carroll and Jake Livermore are also catching the eye during loan spells at Queens Park Rangers and Hull City respectively, suggesting the future is bright at White Hart Lane if Spurs continue to offer home-grown talent a platform on which to perform.

Kane added: "We have a great crop of youngsters coming through at the minute and it's good that we're being used.

"It's important for English football and club football to be getting a chance at the top level and I feel every time we've had a chance, we've done well.

"The fans like big signings and new players coming in but there are home-grown players who have been there for years who wear the shirt with pride and want to prove themselves. It's good competition.

"We have the potential and it's good that we've had the opportunity at such a young age. We've all got the ability to push on and make a statement in this team.

"Each of us knows how the others play because many of us have played together for a long time. We know each other's movement and it's important to have that in a team, to know people's game inside out.

"I've played for England at all levels below the senior squad and that is the next step for me.

"Roy Hodgson watches most of the games in the Premier League and when Andros was playing well, he chose him and Andros helped England qualify for the World Cup. I want to break into that squad eventually."
