Silva was stretchered off in Monday night's 3-1 victory over West Brom with a recurrent of an ankle injury which has been troubling him in recent weeks.

It is not believed he will miss the rest of the season, but he is at the very least a major doubt for this weekend's match with Crystal Palace.

The Spain international will undergo a full scan on Wednesday and his team-mates will be hoping Silva's injury is not as serious as feared.

Defender Pablo Zabaleta, who headed the opening goal on Monday night, told City's official website: "We know how important David Silva is for the team. With him in the starting XI, it's different.

"He is the one who has everything. He simply makes us play better. Hopefully we will see with his ankle that it is not so bad. Fingers crossed David will be back as soon as possible and fit for the next game."
