Holt: Blame the players

Grant Holt has called on frustrated Aston Villa supporters to take their anger out on the players rather than manager Paul Lambert.

He obviously wants a contract regardless of what league we are in next season!

Couldn't agree more. For example, you could blame a striker who has only scored 1 goal in 10 league appearances.

Am I the only one who remembers that Lambert was told as soon as he arrived that there was no money for transfers and he would have to reduce the wage bill and promote youth players, given that it's hardly surprising that things have been on a negative spin for Villa. Lambert and Holt obviously have a good relationship from their time at Norwich, given the injury problems Benteke has and the financial restraints on Villa, what do the fans really expect to happen. Surely the ire should be directed at Randy Lerner

Absolutely right - how can it be that a player on loan from Wigan where he can't get in the first team feels such an expert on what is wrong at the Villa. Ultimately, whatever happens on the field is the responsibility of Teflon Paul despite his text book of ready made excuses. Villa are woeful, and, as Alan Hansen pointed out, have not improved in 12 months. It should be Norwich to drop, they probably are worse than us (hmm - spot the Lambert connection?) This Villa team was largely assembled by Lambert and presumably they owe their loyalty to him. The sooner Lambert closely followed by Holt goes, the better. Thank God they will only be there for another 3 games.

I take your point notalentjones but the fact i thought Holt was still at Norwich i'm not sure whether that reflects most badly of Norwich,Villa,Wigan or me as a follower of the Premier League !

The fact that Grant Holt is speaking as a Villa player at all just about sums up what a complete mess this club is at the moment.

All Platini is doing is making billionaries pay measly fines, so he and his cronies can get rich. If a fool can pay 50 mil for David Luiz, he will happily pay some fine to UEFA. FFP has failed as for it to succeed UEFA had to take it...
