Giggs: Good times will return

Ryan Giggs has promised that the 'good times' will return for Manchester United after making what could be his final home appearance for the club.

The Old Trafford legend, who was appointed as interim manager following the sacking of David Moyes last month, named himself on the bench for the clash with Hull City.

Giggs brought himself on in place of youngster Tom Lawrence for the final 20 minutes of the 3-1 victory and then addressed the home supporters as the curtain came down on what has been a hugely disappointing campaign for the outgoing champions.

The Red Devils have suffered seven league defeats in front of their own fans this season, while also exiting the FA Cup and Capital One Cup to Swansea and Sunderland, respectively, on home turf.

That form saw Moyes' brief tenure as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor brought to a swift close, with Giggs stepping into the breach and Louis van Gaal the favourite to take the job in the long-term.

The Welshman told the Old Trafford crowd in an emotional address after the match: "We know it has been tough this season and over the years we have been spoiled with the success we have had.

"Your support this year has never changed, you have always supported the team and the staff. I'm sure in the coming years we will bring you more success.

"I would just like to say, keep supporting us, you have seen a little glimpse of the future, and this is what this club is about.

"It never stands still, we always give youth a chance and we try and play attractive football.

"Sometimes we don't win, but we give it our all. Keep supporting us and the good times will come back soon."

Future

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Giggs insisted he was in the dark over reports that Van Gaal is poised to take charge at Old Trafford. He also does not know if he will remain at the club.

"I've not been told anything," he said. "I've been left to get on with my job, which I'm quite happy with and I'll get on with that until Sunday."

Young striker James Wilson scored twice on his Manchester United debut with the returning Robin van Persie also on target after coming off the bench.

"It's always been the way at United, to give young players a chance," Giggs told Sky Sports.

"He is a good player, he is exciting. He has trained with us the last couple of days and not looked out of place, and so has Tom.

"It's great to have kids who have been at the club for so long. I think they have all been at the club since they were eight."

The match also marked Nemanja Vidic's final home appearance for Manchester United, with the Serbia international bound for Inter Milan this summer.

Giggs added: "He has been a brilliant player for us and a brilliant defender.

"He has shared so much success with the lads in the dressing room, it is a big moment for him.

"He goes with our good wishes and hopefully he does well."

I

expect Pulis to have a nice Christmas dinner with his family- probably all sitting around the table wearing Christmas themed baseball caps, before he gets the call. Realistically he could end up at any number of clubs, it'll be interesting to see which club folds first.

s a Liverpool fan, I personally hate Palace. My pick would probably be Arsenal, which is funny because it seems the vast majority of their own fans don't even like them right now.
