LIVERPOOL WANT PAREJO

Liverpool are prepared to trigger Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo's release clause this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The 25-year-old's performances have been one of the few plus points for Los Che in a difficult season at the Mestalla, but it now seems he could leave for a fee in the region of £20m.

TalkSPORT claim that Liverpool have scouted Parejo 'extensively' and 'are keen to tie up a deal soon and could make a formal offer in the coming weeks to ensure he ends up at Anfield'.

CHELSEA PLAN SWAP DEAL

How often do these come off? The Daily Mirror's story that Chelsea want to swap David Luiz for Mario Mandzukic seems particularly unlikely, but it's our job to bring you the bulls**t, so bring you the bulls**t we will.

According to the Mirror: 'As Mirror Sport reported last month, Jose Mourinho is prepared to sell Luiz, and Bayern believe they can see off boss Pep Guardiola's former club Barcelona to grab the £30million-rated Brazil defender.

'But Mourinho, who will land Atletico Madrid hitman Diego Costa after next weekend's Champions League Final, wants Mandzukic included in any deal.'

Apparently Bayern will have to pay £15m plus Mandzukic to secure Luiz, which seems an awful lot to us.

TOWNSEND CHASE UNDERWAY

According to the Mirror, Everton and Newcastle are set to go head to head in the race to sign Andros Townsend.

The winger was England's saviour for all of five minutes earlier in the season, but started only two Premier League matches after mid-November.

'Roberto Martinez was keen to take the 22-year-old speedster to the Toffees on loan last summer but was rebuffed by Spurs,' report the Mirror.

'Now Martinez, also in the hunt for QPR striker Loic Remy and linked with Swansea forward Wilfried Bony, is set to return for Townsend.

'His interest matches that of Alan Pardew, who has targeted the player for Newcastle.'

Townsend's future is likely to hinge on the plans of Tottenham's new manager.
