Rodgers to keep faith in youth

Brendan Rodgers has vowed to continue to give young players first-team opportunities at Liverpool - providing they have the right personality.

It's not that hard to understand is it? What is wrong with you guys?! Stop being so myopic!

@lfcfan - I've never said he isn't doing a good job?! Maybe I'm old fashioned, but if you say something to try and big yourself up, then said something should be true at least, right? Nobody else agree with me here?

Honestly I don't give a toss if he is right or wrong about us being the youngest team, squad, manager or club that has ever automatically qualified for the CL and finished 2nd. All that matters is that we actually did automatically qualify for the CL and finished 2nd with a great platform to build on for next season. @Hometruths if one of the things or maybe only thing you can beat Rodgers with is him not being exact in his language about whether we are the youngest side to finish 2nd and automatically qualify for the CL or not, then isn't that proof he is doing an awesome job and all of us should actually go outside and enjoy life rather than having a discussion about which was the youngest team to finish 2nd and automatically qualify for the CL!

Brendan is a fool and will be fired within two years with this stupid youth policy. Flanagan was a big hole in Liverpools defense, he can defend, he doesn't do much going forward. Last several weeks, Sterling was a shadow of himself. Without Suarez, these young players will be nothing... Liverpool need experience and experience, not the old type like Stevie G who was very ineffective as a defensive midfield player. Rodgers again is a fool and wasn't brave enough to sub Stevie G when he couldn't run anymore in the latter part of the seasons. I love Liverpool but next year will show Rodgers is not good enough..

@bobsy well for a start, this is an article about Brendan Rodgers, not Arsene Wenger. Secondly "I didn't see the incident" isn't a statement borne out of pomposity, it's more self-preservation. I'll let you figure out the rest.

home truths - and everything wenger has said is gospel is it? "i didn't see the incident". What? you mean its one rule for the team you support and another rule for everyone else? how very confusing

Teixeira, Ilori, Luis Alberto, Suso, Borini, Ibe, Coady, McLaughlin, Wisdom, Robinson, Rossiter, Brannagan. At least 2 or 3 from these guys can feature regularly in the 1st team next year. I think now BR should sell Reina, Agger, Kelly, Enrique, Kolo, Coates, Assaidi, Aspas and maybe Glen Johnson and Lucas (for the right price). Then we can go for established CB, LB and DM.

Ha, me and ego - good one. He said "I'm not sure there's a younger squad of players that has qualified for the Champions League; I'm not sure there's a younger group that will have finished second." (which again, is quite self-congratulatory), and it took me no more than 1 minute to google it and find out if it's true or not. Would you rather I just accept it as fact, just because Brendan said it? I like Brendan Rodgers - until he opens his mouth - although even then he doesn't say anything that's particularly inflammatory, just more comedic. As opposed to, say, Mourinho, who is just a jeb end.

Surely his terminology shows that he's making a point rather than listing facts. There's no "we were the youngest", just we are young and therefore these guys deserve respect for what they've done. It's amplification of the achievement in order to grow confidence and lessen the feeling of loss. Which, ironically, is probably exactly what @hometruths was doing just using negativity instead :o )

If I was a Pool fan I would be quite pleased that the coach wants to promote the young players. Unless your a sugar daddy club, your academy products should provide the team strength in depth and occasionally a star player.

And yeah Rogers does run his mouth way too much and half of the time says stupid things/makes up words to try and get some spotlight. Luckily as a coach he has done a fantastic job for Pool.
