The 31-year-old revealed earlier in the week he was 90 percent certain to be leaving, but he has now confirmed in writing to Arsenal that he has turned down their offer of a contract extension.

Sagna's current deal is due to expire at the end of June, after which point he will be free to sign for another club.

Arsenal had offer Sagna a two-year extension, but the French international has opted to end his Gunners career after seven-years at the Emirates.

It is understood that Manchester City, Manchester United and a number of top clubs in Europe have expressed an interest in talking, with Sagna ideally wanting his future resolved before the World Cup finals kick-off next month.

Give Jenkinson a chance, and then have to fork out for a Sagna replacement?, mmm. It doesn't sound sensible for AFC to let Bac go for no good reason, the guy has given everything, right up to the last minute, even tho he realised he was being cheaped out of the Club. Keep Sagna, and pension AW off, he gets contract after contract...... no 1 year extensions for him.

h Daniel. I could spend hours on this subject putting the world to rights. You can even take a step back and ask why football fans (and society in general) have this need to know that something will happen before it actually does. There are times this important, when it comes to things like war, food production and natural disasters. A man you've never met changing his job? Not so much.

reat article. Hits the nail on the head. Encapsulates why I don't read tabloid newspapers anymore. The only thing worse is the 'told you so first' headline when they get lucky.
