* tactics that left players horribly exposed all over the pitch and also negated their strengths e.g. Baines strength is overlapping the left midfielder ahead of him, can't do that when there's a striker ahead of him. His weakness is defending which is exposed when he has a striker ahead of him.

@man of ire - gerrard was fantastic for Liverpool through the majority of the season. 1 slip against Chelsea doesn't destroy a seasons performance. He drove the team on scoring last minute winners from the penalty spot where a lot would have failed given the pressure. He was left horrifically exposed by Roy's incredibly naive tactics, he was like a tommy soldier sent over the top and then he gets the blame for getting himself shot. Blaming any player is deflecting away from tactics that left players horribly exposed all over the pitch and also negated their weaknesses. the man that matters, Roy, should be getting the best out of the players, he got the worst from some due to his tactics.

They have let us down, Especially Roy Hodgson, against Italy we looked like we were not afraid to have a go, then against Uruguay we play more bore defence and lose. I would rather lose and see us give it a real good go and play attacking like Harry Redknapp would.

The Terry, Cole, Lampard idea of a tri-managerial team - that was a joke, wasn't it?

@peeyugo, if you can find me one comment on this website from an Englishman where any one suggests we were a dead cert to progress from the group, or win the whole thing, then I will buy you a biscuit. Not a single person suggested that on here, so far as I know, so this myth peddling that happens every 2 years in order have a cheap shot at the country and the supporters is bang out of order. No one thought we'd win it, just that we had a strong chance of progressin based on the players we had and their form going into the tournament.

will everyone on here stop acting like complete tools? after reading the France article where Evra said something along the lines of "we act like we are part of the same club" maybe just maybe that's our problem at every single tournament too much hatred for each others rival clubs and no one acting like England players, just man united/liverpool/arsenal/chelsea ect. I'm just disappointed in this whole "play like Liverpool" thing that England and importantly Roy Hodgson utterly failed at. Liverpool defend better than England, let that sink in for a second. okay, now here's why, Liverpool play with 3 in the middle and 3 attackers, Henderson/Coutinho/Allen/Lucas when picked either side of Gerrard do a job share in protecting/helping him with and without the ball it gives Gerrard more time on the ball to pick out the passes that made Liverpool's attacks and give Henderson the freedom and confidence to be the complete midfielder he was last year. With that England engine room failed and it exposed the defence, Liverpool did this once against Aston Villa Rogders learned his mistake 45 minutes into the game, Hodgson is 5 games into this mess and has learned nothing. just play Wilshere or Lallana alongside Gerrard and Henderson, then you might notice a suring up in defence and the freedom of Sterling/Rooney/Sturridge trio in attack.

The fact that Hodgson is staying is bad news for England. A tri-managerial team of Lampard, Cole and Terry would be the best thing for England's future, but blinkered thinking at the FA won't allow us that.

Well at least Gerrard can say he has done the double...f**ked Liverpool and England's chance of any success...

"Rather than expecting Rooney and Gerrard to deliver, we piled the pressure on Sterling and Sturridge." Are you kidding? You people are deluded. You've done nothing but demolish Rooney from the moment they arrived in Brazil, and pump up the chokers from Liverpool - and no, I'm not a Man U or Rooney fan - and now the player who scored one and made one of your pathetic two goals "flattered to deceive." really, what would you know?
