SANCHEZ NEARLY DONE
Let's start with the exciting news - reports from Spain (El Mundo Deportivo) and England (BBC) claim that Alexis Sanchez flew into London to have a medical at Arsenal on Thursday afternoon with a view to completing a £35m move from Barcelona. Then we're expecting Barca to pass some of that money on to Liverpool for Luis Suarez, who could be leaving Anfield for £65m or £70m depending on who you believe.
WHO NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?
Metro are quoting 'reports in Spain' but it's unclear exactly which Spanish media outlet is peddling talk of Liverpool spending £40m of that Suarez money on Karim Benzema, who is expected to be surplus to requirements at Real Madrid this summer if they sign Radamel Falcao. Elsewhere, AS claim that Liverpool could make a £20m bid for Antoine Griezmann, who has made it clear that he wants to leave Real Sociedad this summer. Both PSG and Arsenal have also been strongly linked.
KHEDIRA WANTS ARSENAL MOVE
We've read this elsewhere before but Spanish newspaper El Confidencial are the latest to claim that Sami Khedira wants a move to Arsenal after being convinced by fellow Germans Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil. At a reported £16m, Khedira would be a bargain to the Gunners but reports elsewhere (namely in Bild) suggest that Khedira would insist on replacing Ozil as their highest-paid player.
In other Arsenal-related transfer news, Atletico Madrid right-back Javier Manquillo has emerged as a cheaper alternative to Mathieu Debuchy and Serge Aurier as - according to AS in Spain - he would join on loan after pulling out of a planned switch to Marseille when he heard about Arsene Wenger's interest. Poor Carl Jenkinson. And we mean 'poor Carl Jenkinson'.
But Arsenal could miss out on Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who is said to be the subject of advanced negotions with Tottenham. French newspaper Le 10 Sport suggest that Mauricio Pochettino's relationship with the Frenchman could push him towards White Hart Lane.
AND THE REST
Tottenham were today handed a major boost after Hugo Lloris agreed a new five-year contract but they are facing a battle to stop Jan Vertonghen joining Barcelona with the Catalan giants preparing a £17.5m bid...Cristian Tello, Isaac Cuenca, Bojan Krkic, Oier, Ibrahim Afellay and Alex Song have all been told they have no future at Barcelona...Liverpool want an astonishing £5m for Iago Aspas and his corners...Roma want Xherdan Shaqiri and could send Mehdi Benatia the other way to Bayern Munich...Man United have made a £7m bid for Argentina international Enzo Perez.
Rather than "Sanchez nearly done" could you provide the completion status please? Maybe today "Sanchez deal 72% done" and then tomorrow "Sanchez deal 74.3% done", leading up to 100% on the evening of the transfer window close day. Thank you.- CamberleyGooner
