The Magpies have been chasing the 24-year-old France international since January when they attempted to sign him as a replacement for Yohan Cabaye.

Cabella has been with Montpellier for five years and was a member of France’s World Cup squad in Brazil.

The deal is expected to be completed over the weekend.

Newcastle are in the business of buying cheap and selling high, it remains to be seen whether they'll do any better this season, I think they'll be fighting relegation myself
