The Tottenham striker was admitted to hospital on Saturday, which means he misses the club's pre-season tour of North America.

The 30-year-old Togo international will be sidelined for at least a week before he is able to return to training.

Adebayor enjoyed a fine season for Tottenham last term after Tim Sherwood replaced Andre Villas-Boas as boss and will be hoping to impress the new man at the helm, Mauricio Pochettino, when he returns to the fold after his illness.
