Fabregas left Barcelona to join Chelsea earlier this summer, but Arsenal had an option to try to re-sign their former captain three years after he left the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that Fabregas was 'not open' to rejoining Arsenal and that it was an 'easy job' to persuade the Spain international to move to Stamford Bridge.
Wenger is aware of the comments, but the Arsenal manager would not be drawn on whether Fabregas was opposed to returning to the club.
"I think people came out and said he wanted to go to Chelsea," said Wenger after Saturday’s friendly win over Boreham Wood."I don't know who tells the truth here or not. He landed where he wanted to go."
Wenger has been active in the transfer market this summer after adding Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy to his squad, and he has also been linked with several midfielders.
He is planning further additions to his ranks, with a goalkeeper on the agenda following Lukasz Fabianski’s move to Swansea City and the end of Emiliano Viviano’s loan spell.
"I'm happy with the business I’ve done until now but it’s not over," said Wenger.
"There is still a long way to go and I’ll bring in another goalkeeper for sure."
I love the way Wenger bites everytime Jose baits him. Mourinho has more charisma in his belly button fluff than Wenger has in his whole 'I didn't see it' body. The fact is Fabregas worked under Wenger before and decided he wanted to work under Mourniho. Do any of you really believe Wenger would not have tried to get his former captain back? If he didn't, given the amount of stick he copped for allowing his team to become Manchester's feeder club, then he really needs a comforting arm put round his shoulders and gently guided to the airport to catch a plane to PSG. All this denial is unseemly, given the absolute donkey Ozil has turned out to be in the PL.- stevemelbourne
