@nedsmar, Socrates, yes amongst one of the best Brazilians ever. When you're as brimming over with skill and talent as he is, you could have 100 a day and it wouldn't matter. But when you are decidedly below average on your best day, and completely sh*t on most days, you need every advantage you can get.......and that means not a single puff ! Because otherwise you just look like a complete di*k !

@nedsmar, I think the likes of Zola, Juninho and Maradona all enjoyed a fag every once in a while. Scorates was a heavy smoker, though. 40 a day is a conservative estimate, I would suggest......

I think if Arsene Wenger had any oil in his lamp he would ship Wilshere out as fast as he can in this transfer window. He will never produce the goods in a million years and all the hype was just to increase his sponsorships. Sorry but he is not Arsenal material.

While not comparing the ability of Wilshire to Dr Socrates of Brazil, didn't he do about forty a day?

No need to apologise, we all figured out a while ago that you would never live up to the hype, and so if your football skills are never going to be smokin' .......well then you might as well be chuggin away on 40 a day ! Jack this just proves you have as little faith in yourself as we do in you and your ability. How can you ask us to trust you, when you don't even trust yourself ? In the end, it's just a sad indictment, pathetic, fat, lazy mentality that goes hand in hand with being a modern English football professional.

I'm sorry, I simply don't get how it's a story. The fake outrage is what gets me the most; most of the press probably do much worse than smoke. If Wilshere really is a role model, which says a hell of a lot about our society btw, then I blame the guy who took the picture!

I would suggest he is more sorry he got caught. I would love to Arsnal to sign a left and right midfielder by the names Hedges, and , er, Benson.
