Veron played for the Red Devils from 2001-03, picking up a Premier League winners’ medal in his last season at Old Trafford.

He is now the director of sport at Estudiantes de La Plata, where he won an Argentine Primera Division title in 2010 with Rojo, who joined United in the summer as Louis van Gaal revamps his squad.

Rojo is excited about the future at Old Trafford, telling Radio Rivadavia: “I am very happy to have the chance to play in such an important team in the world.

“It really means a lot to me. I want to enjoy this moment because it's a dream come true.

“At Manchester there is a lot of quality, from the players to the training pitches.

"Before agreeing to sign for Manchester I spoke a lot with Veron, he suggested a few things to me."

Rojo was part of the Argentina team which narrowly lost the World Cup final to Germany in Brazil under Alejandro Sabella.

He enjoyed the experience and is now looking forward to pushing on under new boss Gerardo Martino.

"I had trained a lot to be in Brazil 2014 because personal things were not sorting out correctly," he admitted.

“But, I think that we had a good performance and left a good image, at least, in our country we received recognition about what we did.

“The World Cup is over now, so we have to think of doing things correctly with the new coach.”

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
