UNITED AFTER OSCAR (DE MARCOS)
Quick line from The Daily Mirror to kick things off this Monday morning, and they report that Manchester United are scouting Athletic Bilbao midfielder Oscar de Marcos.

Fergie has been looking at the midfielder for some time, and sent his brother Martin (which must be a bit demeaning for the other Ferguson, being ordered around by your brother) to watch De Marcos.

The Mirror reports: 'De Marcos was wanted by United in the summer but his high valuation - £25million at the time - put Fergie off the deal and he ploughed his cash into signing Robin van Persie.

'Now Ferguson is looking for fresh midfield legs again, with Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs coming towards the end of their careers, and Bilbao may lower the price on de Marcos after a poor season.'

The midfielder would still cost something like £20million, and they might be willing to pay that in January, particularly because he will be available for the Champions League.

BALE LOOKS FURTHER AFIELD
Here's Gareth Bale on where he'd like to play in the future.

In summary, it's Foreignland.

"It would be nice to experience other leagues and other cultures," Bale said.

"I've always said I'm not afraid to go abroad. If the times comes and a team that's right comes in for me, then I'll look at it seriously. I'll see what happens.

"Everybody wants to be playing in the Champions League. Obviously we were unfortunate not to get in there last season but the UEFA Europa League is the next best thing.

"We've all put 100 per cent in every game we have played, we've taken the competition seriously and hopefully we can win this one."

GRANT SET FOR CHELSEA?
Here's the story about Avram Grant potentially going back to Chelsea.

Summary; it's mental.

CLARKE HAS MONEY TO SPEND
West Brom have started the season rather well, but Steve Clarke would still like a bit of money to spend in January. And here he is, on just that subject:

"There's a possibility we lose a couple of players to the African Nations Cup, we could lose players to injury, but when we get closer to the end of the month we'll start to make decisions.

"I haven't really discussed with the chairman (Jeremy Peace) about the way forward in January. That's why we have a technical director.

"He's the buffer. We have spoken about what we might need to do in January.

"If the chairman, Dan and I decide we need to strengthen the squad. then we can do that. Is there money there? Yes I think it is."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
