Arsenal plot £20m January bid for Nani, Liverpool and the Gunners eye Demba Ba, City want Paulinho and more...

ARSENAL EYE NANI
The big gossip on Tuesday is that Arsenal are plotting a £20million January swoop for Nani after the winger reportedly had a bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Both The Sun and The Daily Mail lead with the story, suggesting Manchester United are happy to lose the winger rather than increase his wages from £90,000 a week to £130,000.

It seems rather far-fetched that Arsenal would pay Nani that sort of money after dragging their heels in contract negotiations with Theo Walcott, but The Sun claim Arsene Wenger has made the Portugal international his number one target to replace Walcott.

And The Daily Mail add: 'The 26-year-old is out of favour at Old Trafford after a bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson and an impasse over a contract extension, while Wenger looks to bolster his squad for the Champions League and Premier League run-in.

'Nani believes his relationship with Ferguson is beyond repair and has privately conceded his future is elsewhere, but United have not totally shut the door on the player, whose contract expires in 2014.'

The Mail also say that Arsene Wenger is planning to meet West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame's £3.5million release clause in his (sarcasm alert) annual January spending spree.

MAN CITY TARGET PAULINHO
Roberto Mancini will ease his pain of losing the Manchester derby by making a January move for Brazil international Paulinho, according to The Mirror.

The Corinthians midfielder has also been linked with Chelsea, after helping his team lift the Copa Libertadores earlier this year. However, it seems that City have stolen a march on their rivals as they prepare a £12million offer for the 24-year-old.

The Mirror report: '(Mancini) thinks he needs fresh legs in midfield, where his side have been relying on Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry, with Nigel de Jong sold in the summer and replacement Javi Garcia failing to make an impact.

'In addition, Toure could be absent at the Africa Cup of Nations next month, stretching City's squad during a vital period of the title campaign and handing leaders and neighbours Manchester United even more of an advantage.'

BA TO JOIN LIVERPOOL OR ARSENAL
According to The Mirror, Newcastle will sell Demba Ba to either Arsenal or Liverpool in the first week of the transfer window to finance a move for Marseille striker Loic Remy.

The Magpies have been unable to agree a new contract with Ba, which would see the forward relinquish the release clause that has caused Alan Pardew such a headache over the past 12 months.

And with Liverpool and Arsenal keeping tabs on the 27-year-old, it seems Newcastle are prepared to accept defeat in their battle to keep Ba at St. James' Park.

'The Magpies have so far been unable to agree a new deal with the striker, and want to move him on early if they cannot convince him to stay so they can focus on bringing in a replacement,' claim the Mirror.

'Marseille hitman Loic Remy has re-emerged among the Magpies' main candidates to come in this time around.

'The Geordies have made contact with Remy and Marseille about a possible move next month and are hopeful that a £10million deal can be struck.'

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
