UNITED IN FOR LAMPARD
Oh boy.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Manchester United fans are going to get the midfielder they've been asking for. A young, spry chap called Franklin Lampard.

Oh boy.

The paper claims Fergie is considering making a move for the midfielder when his contract expires in the summer, after he was told that no deal would be offered to him by Chelsea.

The Telegraph reports: 'Although Ferguson rejected the chance to sign Lampard last January after being sounded out about the possibility of taking the 34 year-old to Old Trafford, the prospect of signing him on a free transfer at the end of this season has prompted the United manager to identify the England international as a potential target to bolster his midfield options.'

Oh boy.

The paper also reckons United still are chasing Robert Lewandowski for some reason, and could pay £16million for the big Pole.

So rather than sign the young, powerful midfielder they probably need, they're signing an old midfielder and a striker they quite clearly don't need.

Speaking of young midfielders...

CHELSEA WANT FELLAINI
With Lampard halfway out the door, Chelsea are planning for his replacement.

And according to The Times, the man they have in mind is Marouane Fellaini.

The paper claims that the big Belgian has a release clause of around £22million in his Everton contract, but they will offer a little less than that to see what the Toffees will take.

We suspect it will take a little more than that, but who are we to make conclusions on that sort of thing?

UNITED FAVOURITE FOR ZAHA
The front-runner in the race to sign Wilfried Zaha seems to change by the day.

But on this day, January 8 in the year of our lord 2013, The Daily Mail claims it's Manchester United.

Apparently Spurs will open the bidding at around £7million, but: 'United have apparently struggled to contact Palace chairman Steve Parish but will not be deterred. David Gill is back from holidays and manager Sir Alex Ferguson has set his stall at buying the world's best young talent.

'He wants the opportunity to speak to Zaha personally once a deal has been agreed between clubs. The 71-year-old United manager believes that touch will help convince the 20-year-old his future lies at Old Trafford.'

TAISON DEAL HI-JACKED?
Metalist Kharkiv forward Taison's move to Chelsea seemed to be all wrapped up, but wait!

The Daily Mirror reports that some cheeky little scamps are thinking of gazumping Roman's boys - and those cheeky little scamps are Manchester City.

The paper claims: 'Taison, 24, believed he was on his way to Stamford Bridge after Metalist Kharkiv agreed a deal with Chelsea who have also settled on personal terms with the Brazilian midfielder.

'But Metalist are understood to have suddenly asked for more money after City, Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk all made enquiries.'
