The Sparse Gossip

Man City are linked with Real defender Raphael Varane, Andre Santos said 'no' to Gala, Neymar going nowhere...

CITY LINKED WITH VARANE
This one comes from reports in Spain that have been picked up by the Daily Express. Basically, there's a new kid in town - French teenager Raphael Varane - and he's inevitably being linked with the richest clubs in the world. And that means Manchester City and PSG. Quite why Real Madrid would sell the hottest defensive prospect in European football remains a mystery.

'City may plot a move for him, as they are planning a major overhaul of the squad in the summer and Joleon Lescott is tipped to leave the Etihad,' claims the Daily Express.

ANDRE SANTOS 'NO' TO GALA
Yes Arsenal fans, you nearly got rid of Andre Santos. But then you didn't.

'Arsenal misfit Andre Santos turned down a move to Galatasaray - but the Turkish giants are likely come back in the summer,' claims the Daily Mirror.

Presumably when Kieran Gibbs returns from injury and Andre Santos realises he's now the third-choice left-back, the Brazilian may bugger off. He will be sorely missed.

NEYMAR IN NAE RUSH
You can tell it's a really sodding slow day for gossip. We know Neymar won't leave Brazil until after the 2014 World Cup, you know Neymar won't leave Brazil until after the 2014 World Cup, but The Sun need a 'Brazil insider' to tell them.

He says: "Everyone knows that Neymar will stay in Brazil until the World Cup - but also that in 2014 he will probably leave for Barcelona or Madrid."

The clue is in the words 'everyone knows'. It ain't a story.

'ARRY IS FUMING
That's the word being used by the Daily Mirror to explain the mental state of Harry Redknapp after Loic Remy was ruled out for the next two months. He wanted Peter Odemwingie, you see, and now he's left with just Bobby Zamora and Jamie Mackie as strikers.

'Redknapp is annoyed the Hoops dragged their heels over signing Odemwingie when he had already been identified as a target,' claims the Mirror. Diddums.

AND THE REST
Leeds will launch a fresh attempt to land Chris Burke when the loan window opens this week...Steve Cotterill is in line for a return to Nottingham to take charge of Notts County...QPR are still locked in a pay-off dispute with former manager Mark Hughes, who is chasing the £4.5million left on his contract.

t the start of the season, after the RVP transfer, I confidently claimed that Arsenal would finish above United. I now regret it immensely.

aniel Storey generally did very well, going against the City won it last year so they're bound to win it this time grain. As for John Nicholson, I wouldn't trust him to predict correctly what day of the week it will be tomorrow.
