Suarez discusses future in summer? Zenit want Skrtel, United's competition for Lewandowski, City want Cavani/Falcao...

SUAREZ OFF?
In the interests of fairness, we shall simply present the following words from Luis Suarez without comment, only to say that The Daily Mirror have interpreted them as a hint that he might leave Liverpool in the summer.

The Mirror quotes him as telling Spanish radio station Marca, when asked if they should "talk about his future again in June":

"Yes, we should talk this June or the next one, in 2014. My contract ends in 2018.

"My family is very happy here and I'm living a dream: playing for a club that every kid wants to play for. So we're content, for now.

"We will see at the end of the season what Liverpool's position is - we're not the Liverpool of old. We're coming out of a rough patch, but this is a transition period with a new gaffer and a different philosophy.

"The players enjoy how the manager wants us to play. All we need are the results and to finish in the Champions League spots.

"We would like to qualify for the Champions League if possible. We are young and growing as a team and when the players mature, we will be stronger."

Interestingly, The Sun seem to have either interpreted his words differently, translated them differently or have completely missed a story here.

That paper quotes him as saying, about 'You'll Never Walk Alone': "It's something I'm used to now but somehow it continues to surprise me. When I hear it on the pitch or even in the dressing room it still gives me goosebumps.

"It is incredible and even more so in the stadium when the people become emotional and show their passion. The world stops and everyone sings with their scarves up and it's such a feeling and such a motivation to play for this club.

"I'm very happy here and my family love the life here too. I want to enjoy being at this club where I, like all the kids, dreamed of playing and now I'm fulfilling that dream."

ZENIT AFTER SKRTEL
Zenit St Petersburg just can't make their minds up, can they?

After selling Martin Skrtel to Liverpool in 2008, The Daily Mail reckons they want him back now.

The Russian transfer window doesn't close until February 24, it says here, and Zenit still hope to complete a £13million move for the Slovakian defender before then.

Quite why Liverpool would sell him when they can't replace him and would have to play Jamie Carragher, 87, or Sebastian Coates, last seen weeping in the corner of a dressing room in Oldham, is unclear.

UNITED TO LOSE OUT ON LEWANDOWSKI?
Some papers very confidently predicted in previous months that Robert Lewandowski had signed for Manchester United and was basically looking for houses in Alderley Edge, but wait - there seems to be competition.

The Sun reports - via assorted reports in Germany and, for some reason, Italy - that Lewandowski could be on his way to Bayern Munich instead.

The paper claims: 'Lewandowski said the subject of a potential move has "to cool off" and that "we'll talk after the final match of the season and we'll see".

They also quote Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke as saying: "If Robert wants really to another club, we would sit around a table and talk about everything because we have a good relationship."

Bayern of course already have a couple of rather good strikers, with Mario Mandzukic's form keeping Mario Gomez on the bench at present.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mirror reports that United are tracking Benfica's Argentina international central defender Ezequiel Garay.

CITY IN FOR THE BIG DOGS
Quick couple of lines from England's most august journals now.

The Sun reports that Manchester City are sniffing around Edinson Cavani, something that seemed to be confirmed by one of their coaches on Wednesday - for details of that one, click here.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star reckons they're in for Radamel Falcao, which is just greedy really.
