m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
Paul Lambert is determined to keep Christian Benteke at Aston Villa next season despite interest from elsewhere.

He is one of a number of solid shouts for players that look old before their time. We also have the final words on lovely D-Beck and a rejection of end of season playoffs...
That's one opinion, but others give their thanks to the man. We also have ideas for a relegation playoff, happy memories of the season and a defence of Liverpool's campaign...

padmeister - Admittedly I've not seen a great deal but I've seen him around 6 times and he's been average in all of them. To me he just seems another player with skill but not much else.

@ bun9 - Have yóu only seen a picture of him? That's the only way I could see someone not rating him "at all".

Good signing for Arsenal, they probably need another central defender as their full backs are always injured and so they end up having to move out wide. Their central defence's form is 'patchy' to say the least, too. Benteke looks like a good signing for anyone. What he's done for Villa, he could be lethal at a team in the top half. Although I still rate Lukaku higher as he is younger. Both can turn out to be top class, all round, strikers.

Well I think Alves should join arsenal. We could do with another Brazilian fullback that can't defend...

From what I've seen of Neymar I don't rate him at all. To me he is the product of a Brazilian PR need. Brazil host the next World Cup and they need a pin-up to be put alongside the previous greats of Garrincha, Pele, Careca, Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka etc. However since the Ronaldo/Rivaldo/Ronaldinho era Brazil have only had Kaka to show for it and he's spent. Robinho quite simply isn't up to that level and Luis Fabiano just boring. So for 2014 Brazil desperately needed a new face and name and along comes a young boy with real skill and a stupid haircut and the chosen one has arrived. However on closer inspection he seems to be just a skillful player and not much more. I reckon he'll be a major flop at the World Cup. It won't matter though because I can certainly see either Oscar or Lucas Moura picking up the mantle.
