He's not going to City. He'd only go there if United weren't interested and City would pay more than Real Madrid. His contract at Madrid will have him on £500,000/week before the end of it (it goes up every season), with FFP on the way and the difference in tax rates between the UK and Spain, City can't match that. If he went to United he would have to take a pay cut and be going for the love of the club, not unheard of, Berbatov went to United when he could have got more money at City, same goes for RvP. I don't think he's going to United , but United are the only club that can afford him under FFP.

I lost the very tiny respect I had for the sports press boys in this Country when they all claimed Pep was going to sign for a PL club, Ronaldo to Man U, it could happen but not at 55m more like 105m!

I think he might go to City if Fergie steps down this summer. They'd be willing to pay £80m+ for him. Ronaldo right now could desperately be wanting to go back to United, but it's the club which authorises the transfer, and RM would laugh at the £55m offer.

If Ronaldo will go anywhere near the EPL it will be to Manchester United. Why the heck would he go anywhere else. City? Maybe the money (although they will need to sort out the players wages issue so unlikely), Chelsea? He may have the odd bit of madness within him but he isn't stupid. He wouldn't know who his manager is from one month to the next. Also Chelsea have got an issue with wages v income. PSG? they aren't good enough yet. He will stay in Real Madrid and get more money in the end (although I can't see this as his major motivator - how much does he earn??!!). I could see him return to Manchester United but we all know it wouldn't happen. £55mil??? Where did that come from? He's better now than when he left for £80mil. It's all a load of b*llocks with journo's just making it up. Same old rubbish.

@towelmaster... English comprehension lessons are something you could sorely do with. The implication is clear that the "author" (if I dare deign him as such) is implying that the twitter thing (which I was wholly unaware of) is illustrative of something wider, i.e. that section of Man United support, who are identified as "fanboys" and "mooning" over a great player which clearly has huge homophobic undertones, which as others have noted, is hilarious from this site, supposedly so secure in its sexuality that it repeatedly engages in protracted discussions about cheek bones and beards that really have no place in supposed football analysis. At the Anfield faithful, CR is sure as sh*t not going to Liverpool...

Ronaldo WILL re-sign for Man United. The same day Messi signs for Stoke City.

I realise I'm probably in a minority of one, but I wouldn't want Ronaldo back. Unbelievable player, but Fergie's spent the last 3 years slowly building a new team....how would it look if he just went and bought back someone from his last great team? Not exactly a vote of confidence is it? Also, some of his antics in his final 12 months here left a sour taste in the mouth (the constant flirting with Madrid, some sulky performances, his decision to just walk off the pitch against Sunderland etc)..

The Daily Star are just making up as they go along, hoping to get lucky. The rumour that maybe a bit more believable is that United's new sponsor, Chevrolet, want Ronaldo as their ambassador but only if he is at United and are prepared to assist with the financial side of any deal to make it happen. I can't imagine there are many, if any, United fans that wouldnt want Ronaldo back. The biggest issue is whether Real Madrid would consider selling, I cant imagine their biggest issue would be money but the detrimental effect it would have on their ability to win trophies.

@ always red, i never said he wanted to leave madrid, but he has said it himself that he does not rule out a return to the MU, you just have to read between the lines, you seem to ignore the reports that all is not well at RM and the man has voiced out his displeasure before. Maybe he would go to PSG but i really dont see him coming back to any EPL side but United. You should be more concerned about your team keeping suarez, clearly CL material, something which you cant offer him atleast in the next 5 years.

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
