AND SO IT BEGINS...
This is going to be a long old summer and it stats here with the Daily Star - who have been pushing 'Ronaldo to United for the last week' - claiming that 'Gareth Bale is set for talks with Real Madrid over a sensational £40m summer move to Spain'. Apparently that £40m will consist of £30m up front and then £10m to be paid over the next four years.
If we know Daniel Levy (and we don't), then we suspect he will laugh his little head off at the prospect of accepting £40m for a player who will surely command a fee upwards of £50m.
'Starsport understands that when Bale signed his new four-year deal at Spurs last summer, it was agreed he would be allowed to talk to a select group of named clubs if they showed interest.'
Unsurprisingly, Real are one of those named clubs. Unsurprisingly, the Daily Star also claim that Bale will replace Ronaldo. 'The Spanish giants are preparing to off-load Ronaldo in the summer as he has become disillusioned with life in Madrid,' apparently.
ROONEY TO PSG!
Now this one is new. Or at least new to 2013 as it was mooted last May. The Times claims that PSG have identified Wayne Rooney as the man they want in attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and could be ready to pay £40m to see how he adapts to life in Paris.
There seems to be some suggestion that United would consider selling Rooney as Robin van Persie has usurped him as the talisman of the team and - with just two years left on his deal - they must make a decision now about whether to commit to another, very espensive contract. But would they accept just £40m?
FOUR-WAY FIGHT FOR FELLAINI
Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are the four clubs mentioned by the Daily Mail, who have clearly spotted that Marouane Fellaini is really quite good.
They say 'the 25-year-old is keen to play Champions League football and is now firmly on the radar of some of Europe's top clubs as Everton try to end their season with a push for the top four', though the same report suggests the Belgian is 'not currently a priority' for either Manchester club.
